Jesus was Crucified and Resurrected on Passover time and it's no coincidence. The Bible teaches that the Passover is a foretelling and foreshadowing of Christ. The Bible says that Christ is our Passover
"Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:"
-1 Corinthians 5:7
On the last supper Jesus had a feast with His disciples and ate the bread and drank the wine which signified His body and blood and said this is my blood of the New Testament which is shed for remission of sins Matthew 26:28
In Exodus on the first Passover God commanded Israel to kill a lamb and spread the blood of the lamb on the door posts to be protected from God's Judgment which is a foreshadowing of the blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Passover Lamb:
12 "For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.
13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever."
-Exodus 12:12-14
After Israel did this, God killed the firstborn of Eygpt but Israel was protected. After this Pharoah finally let Israel go but he later changed his mind after his heart was hardened and he had Egypt pursue after Israel but Moses parted the red sea and Israel got through it but the red sea fell and killed the Eygptians.
Exodus 14:21
“And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.”
King James Version (KJV)
26 "And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.
27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
30 Thus the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore."
-Exodus 14:26-30
The passover is a story about redemption and deliverance and its a spiritual foreshadowing of Christ bringing deliverance over sin through His sacrifice on the cross for us and Christians we all have a spiritual personal Passover.
