Two musicians can make beautiful music when they are in tune with each other. If they play in different keys, they only make noise.

The most important relationship we have is with our Savior. We need to be committed to keeping it in tune.

Here are three action steps:

#1 - Examine your heart.

We must make sure nothing will hinder us from sweet fellowship with Jesus.

When we have unconfessed sin, it affects our relationship with Him.

We must search our hearts for unforgiveness, bitterness, anger, etc.

The Bible promises in 1 John 1:9 (NKJV)
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

# 2 - Make God a priority.

We need to spend focused time with God when we aren’t rushed.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,
and all these things shall be added to you.”
Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)

We need to minimize distractions as much as possible. Our world is filled with technology and instant communication. This can be a real challenge.

We make time for what is important to us.

#3 - Study the Bible.

Devotionals, books, videos, etc. can be beneficial, but nothing replaces the inspired (2 Timothy 3:16) and inerrant (John 17:17) word of God.

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.” Joshua 1:8a (NKJV)

Reading the Bible is an integral part of the Christian life. God promises us that the Holy Spirit will help us understand it. (1 Corinthians 2:14-16)

The next time we read our Bibles, our prayer should be the same as the Psalmist's, who wrote,

“Open my eyes, that I may see
Wondrous things from Your law.”
Psalm 119:18 (NKJV)
