Are you making good use of the gifts God has given you? Psalm 33:1-3 says we are to “Sing joyfully to the Lord” and to “play skillfully” to Him.  ...

I wonder how many of us professional musicians mislead our audience. We are either intentionally leading them or maybe unintentionally misleading them. I remember one night – back before I was old enough to join our church youth group – my church hosted a concert by a local band that was friends of our family.  My dad was down on the main floor running lights and had designated one of the older youth members to run the spotlight from up in the balcony. At one point during the show, the lead gu...

The hope God has given you, don't let anyone take it from you. Keep it secretly in your heart, protect it from skeptics, from pessimists, nourish it with your dreams, until the day it is revealed. Fall in love with God first and He will give you the perfect person for you at the most opportune time. Christian love manifests itself in patience to cover faults and ignore offenses....

I guess today's thoughts have been centered around my doctor's visit yesterday. I got a shiny new diagnosis and another med to take, along with a fistful of orders for further tests and even therapy! So while I don't think my personal health and medical issues are something I want to share with the world, I will share enough that my thoughts about it all will make sense. Starting from the end and working my way backwards. But first, I went in for this recheck after seeing her a few months...

Whether you realize it or not, the audience is a reflection of us onstage. When you’re performing or leading worship and you look out at the people, what do you see? Are they fully present with you? Are they singing their hearts out? Or does there seem to be a disconnect somewhere? ...

I have done occasional Supernal Sunday posts in the past, but will start making it a regular feature now. It started as a way to share my thoughts on spiritual things, then I started creating inspirational meme galleries; I anticipate that these are the two formats I will continue to use, but as time goes on we'll see how that works out. I don't make resolutions on any certain calendar date...after all, every single day is the beginning of another year. But I thought it would be a good ti...

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not kn...

Today is the third Sunday within Lent. The first Sunday my Supernal Sunday post was about sin and sinners, which is ALL of us; last Sunday I shared memes about the effects of sin in the world and in our relationship to God. Today's post is about the wrath of God toward sin and sinners - yes, toward us. We can't understand why Jesus had to come and endure what He did without understanding the totality of God's wrath against sin and those who live it. This week I am sharing Rich Maffeo's po...

(God speaking to Solomon) And as for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you, and keeping my statutes and my rules, then I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your father, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.’ 1Kings 9:4-5 ...

And he said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. ~ Luke 24:25-27   What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not als...
