(This post is a day late due to illness.) Today is the fourth Sunday within Lent. The first Sunday my Supernal Sunday post was about sin and sinners, which is ALL of us; the next Sunday I shared memes about the effects of sin in the world and in our relationship to God. Last week's post is about the wrath of God toward sin and sinners - yes, toward us. And then today we see a glimmer of hope. God loves us so much that He didn't leave us in that state, in sin, and under His terrible wrath!...

I was going to do a health update today because there are so many changes going on...but somehow that doesn't seem right. I just got a text from my sister, who is on her way to a friend's memorial service tonight. My heart hurts for her, but it's impossible to share in another's grief. It's something we have to experience ourselves. I am glad that she will be with others who also love Edie though...and I hope that they all derive comfort from each other. Gwen and Edie were lifelong friends fr...

Dec. 27 - John 5:19, 12:49 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise...For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment—what to say and what to speak." Dec. 28 - Isaiah 61:1-3 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, ...

Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, “Lord, now y...

Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. It ...

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not kn...

The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 1John 1:5-7 LINK to Christmas Songs page; new songs added daily! ...

Being sick this week I didn't even turn my computer on for several days, let alone post anything. So for anyone who has been following along here is what you missed...ALSO, I have stopped using the Crosswalk site. I hadn't been getting much out of it, it wasn't as "meaty" as I was looking for and even seemed trite at times, and I love the other site so much that I appreciate being able to spend more time and thought with that one. So here are the readings for the days that I didn't post them. ...
