Testing Faith (Mark 6:45-51)

Uncomfortable or threatened episodes usually happen when we least expect them. We're sailing along on the placid surface of the familiar, and suddenly a storm breaks out. We''re going with the flow, and then the wind picks up and the going gets tough. What experience comes to mind when you think about feeling alone or being in danger? In that situation, how did God make Himself present in your life?

After the feeding of the five thousand, Jesus needed some time alone. So, he sent the disciples ahead in the boat to their stop. In Jesus' day, traveling by boat was the fastest way to go. Most journeys had to be over land, but whenever a route could include sailing, the trip was often shorter. That is, unless storm winds began blowing.
