I am using a Microsoft Surface Go as a daily driver. I installed Linux Fedora on it. I want to embrace the touchscreen and the pen, but this machine is increasingly locking up. I really don't want to... View More

Christopher Dedert Crazy? Maybe a little. I’d say more of setting yourself up for disappointment. If you just want to take notes and have touchscreen support, why not get a Samsung tablet with a pen? Or even (gasp) a base model iPad and Apple Pencil?

I will comment on the server part only! I am currently building a server to act as a storage, Family social media, and work station. I am using a Orange Pi 5 plus with 32GB memory, 2 5TB drives in a LVM volume. I am fairly confident the OPi is going to serve my purpose well, and it only cost me l... View More

Ever watched a 30 second YouTube video, but have ads before, during and after the actual video? What about trying to get a simple recipe for something but get bombarded by ads an... View More
I am against targeted ads. That means something is tracking and monitoring me. That's not okay for something to constantly be observing everything I do. Generic ads on moderation can be tolerable.
Might as well post my latest blog entry about ProjectOne and how my first real world test went. Let's talk!

Reality Sets In - Real World Testing
The time finally came this last week when we took a family vacation and I was able to take ProjectOne out on its first real world test. TL;DR: It failed . . . well, kind of.
Prep I was able to work on
Personally, I am a retired Principal Systems Engineer. Mostly Unix and Linux. I have been playing with an Orange Pi 5 Plus lately.
Awesome! Someone smarter than me already in the group. Good to meet you.
What is your plan with the Pi?
Christopher DedertI am turning it in to a NAS (Network Area Server).
I created this group for those of us who enjoy new and old technology.
A little bit about me is that I run a homeserver in my basement.
I use it as my cloud storage (like Onedrive or icloud) via Nextc... View More
