On Today, October 16The Cuban Missile Crisis kicks into full swing in 1962.President John F. Kennedy receives information (aerial photos) confirming Soviet missiles in Cuba. The confrontation that ensues between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R.<span style="background-color: transparent;"> edges the world to the brink of nuclear war.</span><span style="background-color: transparent;"></span><span style="background-color: transparent;">Only when the Soviets back down and agree to remove their missiles does the world breathe again.
