The Christian Heritage of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - Part 15
AMERICA: The Western State of Israel
By: Tommie Spurgeon
Judah in the Old Testament sold his brothers for silver to the Gentiles. In the New Testament Judas sold Jesus for pieces of silver. He was named Judas in the Greek but his name in Hebrew was Judah. He was a shadow of the Jewish betrayal. When Judah would have crowned him King when he road into Jerusalem on the back of a little donkey the Jewish Elders turned on Jesus and destroyed him in the eyes of the people. Because of this they didn’t crown Jesus as King but encouraged Pilate to Crucify Jesus instead. The crowning of the King will come at the end of the age when all of God’s people crown Jesus King over all. This is their inheritance and their glory that the son of David Jesus will set on the eternal throne of God over the nations of the World. All of these things that happen to Jesus through the Jews was God’s plan so that he could turn from the Jews to Ephraim and the Gentiles.
On the other hand just as Joshua was the ambassador or minister of the Promise to Israel. It was Ephraim’s job after the crucifixion to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ as ambassadors of the New Covenant to the World. In Joshua 1: 3 God told Joshua that wherever he placed his foot it belonged to him and he was to share the land with the children of Israel. Compare this thought with whatsoever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven considering the message is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If a soul comes to Christ through ministering the Gospel to someone then they are saved and God recognizes it as so. But any of those souls that are not ministered to will be kept in bondage and darkness. Jesus gave the Kingdom freely to the Disciples, Jesus told them in Matthew 10: 8 “freely ye have received, freely give”. This was the same as with Joshua. God gave him the Promised Land to share with the others that were in the promise; this is exactly what he did.
JOSHUA 1: 2: Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
3: Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
5: There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
6: Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
Joshua had to divide the land for an inheritance to the people, the instruction was to go over Jordan with all the people. Before Moses had died he gave a parcel of land to 2 ½ tribes of Israel that wanted to remain on the East Side of the river of Jordan. However These tribes would have to cross over and fight the enemy the same as those that would inherit the land on the West Side of Jordan. But both sides were the possession of the whole house of Israel. Even though Moses had previously told the 2 ½ tribes of Israel on the East Side of Jordan that they could have the land they still had to get Joshua’s approval before they could possess it. This is the way it is today a person has to hear the Gospel in order to understand and be saved. This is our job. How shall they hear without a preacher?
Let us step back and take a spiritual look at this picture. We have the whole house of Israel divided by a body of water called the Jordan River. You have a smaller group living on the East Side and a very much larger group living on the West Side of the River. Lets put this in a larger scope of things and place it on a world map. I believe that this is prophetic telling us that the refuge or land of Israel in the last days would be on a larger scale. That a smaller group of the house of Israel would live on the East Side of the Atlantic Ocean but a much larger group would live on the West Side of the Atlantic. We have the Jews in the nation of Israel on the East Side with approximately six million people but on the West Side of the Atlantic we have a group of around six million Jews living in the United States. But added to this group are the Christians in this country that in God’s promise are also called Ephraim. That Add these two groups of Christians and Jews together and you have a very large group. These all make up the whole house of Israel in America but don’t forget the Jews in Israel together America and the nation of Israel make up the whole house of Israel. Israel the smaller group in the East and America the larger group in the West.
There are Jews and Christians scattered all over the world but I believe that God created a refuge to protect the Jews in the East with a nation of their own and gave the Church a refuge to protect them and the Gospel along with their companions that included the Jews. This is found in America. This land belongs to God and was given to the Christians at the founding of America. It is not a secular nation, it doesn’t belong to them. It belongs to the Christians and Jews in this country and was designed by our founders to be a refuge for both. It is ours, we must stand up and stop letting the enemy of God steal our nation. They are gradually choking the people of God in this nation to death in order to force Christianity out of the land.
In the story of Joseph when Joseph was sold by his brothers and terrible things happened to him he was forced to go to the Gentiles, He was made Lord over Egypt, He was married to a Gentile, Ephraim and Manasseh were born. He made provision for the whole world for a future time of drought. All of his family would come to him in Egypt to be safe with him. His whole house or family was there together under the protection of Joseph during that terrible time. But God knows the future. Joseph’s life is a shadow of Jesus Christ. Jesus knew from the beginning that Judah would not accept him as King and that they would end up crucifying him. In preparation he went to Galilee of the Gentiles to begin his ministry to gather the Twelve men that would be his ambassadors to take the Gospel to the World. This was his first move toward Ephraim and any symbolism of Gentiles. When the people of Judah rejected him and nailed him to the cross he was forced to go to the Gentiles. The open door to them would be through the promise that God had made to Ephraim through Jacob at the crossed arm blessing. Ephraim was to become a multitude of Gentiles. At the cross Jesus turned to the Gentiles and brought them through the door of salvation to Jesus by the preaching of Ephraim. As they were born again they became part of Ephraim but the World would call them Christians. Just as Joseph took a Gentile wife Christ has taken a Gentile wife through the efforts of Ephraim. But as he is gathering the Gentiles the promise to Ephraim becomes more fulfilled. Ephraim has not come to maturity yet. There is a time coming when Ephraim’s promise will be complete. The Bible calls this the fullness of the Gentiles.
During the bad 7 years that were to come Joseph’s entire household came to him in a foreign land. But this land was not foreign to the Gentile wife or to Ephraim and Manasseh that lived there. But, it was to Joseph’s family that lived in the land of Israel. They would be forced to leave the land of Israel and go to that foreign land where Joseph and his family lived. If they didn’t they would perish. Today Ephraim is the Church and its homeland is America. During the Tribulation the nation of Israel will have to leave their land or perish. They will come where Ephraim lives. It is here in the United States that the Jews in Israel will come. A mighty revival will come about in America that will bring so great a move of the Spirit that the Bible says that it would be like life from the dead. All will be saved and Judah will be joined together with Ephraim in the Kingdom of God. It is the same move of the Spirit of God that God showed to Ezekiel in the valley of dry bones. The sticks of both Judah and Ephraim will become one stick in Christ. Christ will not come back until Israel acknowledges that he is the Messiah, the Christ, the Son of God. But think this great Revival is going to happen right here in America, millions will be saved.
Understanding what lies ahead of us in prophecy plus now knowing who we are it is easy to understand why God established our nation. The Pilgrims and Puritans came to this country to establish a New Israel for freedom of religion from the oppression of Government control over the way they worshipped. We have the same problem in America today. Understanding that freedom to openly preach, to speak about God in public, the restrictions to prayer and Bible reading along with having the Ten Commandments struck down all over America. Cross removal and other challenges against Christianity in our country can only tell us one thing. We have a job to do for God in this country. This country was created as a refuge for Christians and Jews and as many that want to come here. But others do not have the right to change what we were founded to be. Knowing what is ahead we must stand up and fight to win our Christian freedom back in this land. This is why we must win.
