View More1Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. What a verse! We will only look at the the first phrase of verse 2 . I want to draw your attention to a couple of words Peter uses. The words are “Elect & Foreknowledge “. These two words give me great encouragement as I hope that they do for you as well. What does “Elect” mean? Well, to put it very simply it means someone who has been selected; or chosen out. We who are saved are “The Elect”. Our Lord Jesus spoke about those of us who are the elect. He clarified how being chosen works. John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. He chose us ! Being chosen is The Lords doing and our part is using our free will to accept his offer of Salvation. The word “foreknowledge” is a great Bible word that means “knowing before it happens, or to foresee“. We preach that God is everywhere by saying He Omnipresent. We proclaim truly that God is all powerful and we rightly call Him Omnipotent. We say that we believe God is Omniscient. Yet sometimes we simply fail to recognize that He has complete knowledge. It was this very foreknowledge that was revealed to John the Beloved, who saw the future and penned down the book of the Revelation. In that revelation John saw the chosen! You and I were seen in the heavenly by the foreknowledge of God. Elect or being chosen can’t be separated from Gods foreknowledge. They stand together! Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: I do NOT believe that God has saved some to Heaven and will send the rest to hell. That is not God’s intent. His will is that all men come to Christ. God leaves the choice with us . 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. We all have sinned by breaking Gods laws. Every human has sinned. Therefore all men are in jeopardy! Jesus died for our sins . He paid our sin debt . He shed His sinless blood for you and me. He took the sin debt of all upon His cross. He paid the complete price for our transgressions by dying in our place. Three days and nights He was in the grave. Then on the 3rd day He arose from the tomb and is now seated in Heaven at the right hand of God. We must repent by turning from our sin and call upon Christ believing that He is the Savior, the only begotten of God. Believing is trusting that will do that which He says ! By the Grace of God through Faith believing upon Jesus , we can receive eternal life. The Gospel is for us to believe or for us to reject. It’s our free choice. The Elect are those who receive Christ and the free gift of salvation. Foreknowledge is God seeing from Eternity Past through Eternity Future with complete understanding. Will you be one of the elect ? Are you chosen of the Lord ? Will you be in Heaven ? God loves you today and He wants you to be saved ! And the good news is that you can be ! Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Romans 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
